What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring all previous prescriptions, recent test reports and a list, or the packets, of the medicines you take. If you have diabetes, your home blood sugar notes are helpful too.
When should I see an endocrinologist?
Endocrinologists treat diabetes, thyroid problems, PCOS, obesity, bone loss and vitamin D deficiency, and diseases of hormone glands such as the adrenal and pituitary glands. It's also worth seeing one if a blood test shows an abnormal hormone level.
Do I need to fast before hormone tests?
Not always. Some tests need fasting and others must be done at a particular time of day. Follow the instructions from your doctor or the laboratory for each test.
